About the Artist

Nick Gonzalez-Loesch
My name is Nick, and I am a 2d animation student at MCAD, Graduate. I started seriously getting into animating in November of 2018.
My work reflects my thoughts on the topics of comedy and satire, not in the way that modern satire has become “offensive humor,” but in the way that real topics can be approached with both care and a comedic lens. I like to show somewhat realistic thoughts and actions, sometimes with dark comic touches. There are two major characteristics that I feel are displayed throughout my work, and those are action and story building. I enjoy creating works that convey or suggest an entire world of existence. A simple comic might feature items in the background or on a character that suggest the way of life or sphere of existence. The character doesn’t exist in a vacuum; it has a full life and environment beyond the snippet portrayed. Everything I make has a personality to it, and I try to let that show through the drawings. My goal is to make cartoon characters and worlds that, even in a still image, seem to be animated. Almost nothing in my work is stagnant. I feel this reflects my ideas of how my mind is constantly moving, even when I am sitting still.
